I am a nationally certified acupuncturist. I am nationally board certified
in acupuncture by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture
and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) and licensed by the State of Tennessee. I
am additionally certified with the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and
Oriental Medicine (CCAOM) in Clean Needle Technique.
As an acupuncturist, I am also a member of the American Association of
Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM). I received my Bachelor's of
Arts degree from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, and I earned
my Masters of Science degree in Clinical Acupuncture from Tri-State
College of Acupuncture (TSCA) in New York City. My graduate program
focused on three distinct styles of acupuncture including Traditional
Chinese Medicine (TCM), a specific Japanese style acupuncture called KM
Acupuncture and Trigger Point Dry Needling, an advanced style of
acupuncture, focusing on releasing muscle spasms and chronic pain. I
integrate these three styles of acupuncture into my practice in order to
bring the best possible outcomes to my patients.
At TSCA, I trained with master acupuncturists who treat wide array of
sports and dance injuries - from the Jets and Giants major league football
and the Yankees and Met major league baseball players - to the New York
City Ballet and Broadway dancers and performers. In addition, I have
worked with patients who had a wide array of signs and symptoms, such as
from allergies and asthma, pain conditions, symptoms of emotional stress
and anxiety to headaches, neck and back pain, reflux, weight loss and
smoking cessation.
At TSCA, I accumulated over 2,000 hours of both didactic and clinical
experience in acupuncture. I was trained in Tui Na, bodywork a therapeutic
kind of Chinese medical massage. I blend this medical massage and
essential oils into my acupuncture treatments to further harmonize each
patient's internal balance.
In addition to treating patients in TSCA’s community acupuncture clinic, I
had the wonderful opportunity to observe the practitioners at the
Integrative Therapies Program for Children with Cancer at New
York-Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital.I also trained in Zero Balancing and
Tui-Na bodywork and blends them into treatment to further harmonize each
patient’s internal balance.
I decided to try acupuncture in college in the early 1990s when I was
experiencing severe migraines and frequent sinus infections. I was happily
surprised to discover that after only three acupuncture treatments over
the course of three weeks, that my pain had been significantly reduced, my
immune system was strengthened, my stress levels were lowered and I had a
sense of calm and well-being. I have loved acupuncture ever since.
Acupuncture is one of the oldest, most commonly used medical procedure in
the world. I wholeheartedly believe in the power of acupuncture to help
the body heal itself. I am passionate to help people overcome physical as
well as emotional challenges in order to improve their health and
well-being. I have found that acupuncture works on its own and especially
in concert with treatments and therapies from general practice medical
doctors, osteopathic doctors, chiropractors, physical therapists and
sports trainers.
Acupuncture is $65 for first time visits, which last about an hour and a
half and then $50 a session for all future visits (which usually last one
hour). I offer sliding slide options as well.
I have a beautiful treatment space in Bearden area of Knoxville at 4645
Newcom Ave. on the road to the left beside the Earthfare Grocery Shopping
Center.
